09/13/2003: "Weekly Skin"

I've added a feature to this blog that might interest you. I'm calling it "This Week's Skin", and you'll find the link in the group headed "Cliff's Ongoing Projects," in the right hand panel below the calendar. Skin is an ongoing project? Well, kind of; I've always been quite fond of the female form, and I got into scanners and Photoshop early, so it wasn't much of a leap for me to begin entertaining myself by creating interesting backgrounds for my desktop. Click more.. below.

Anyway, my plan is to share some of my better background images, rotating the images each week. If you click the link and like what you see well enough to use it as a background, then simply download it as a zip file, unzip it, convert it to a BMP, and you're off to the races. Please note; when you unzip the downloaded file and open it, you will have uncompressed a JPG file. If you save it as a BMP then and there, you're okay. But if you don't, whatever you do, don't resave the file as a JPG; just close it without saving, or you'll lose the quality of the image due to recompression. The images you'll download from "Weekly Skin" are high-quality, 24-bit color, and sized to 800 by 600 resolution. If you don't screw them up, they will easily stretch to 1024 by 768 when used as a background without any apparent loss of quality. Enjoy.
