12/18/2003: "Jollitude"
Yeah, it's not a real word, but I've got it! I've got it good. The holiday season is great, and all you have to do to put yourself in the mood is a few of the standard things that people bitch about. Click more.. below.
Like shop? Yeah, buy something for someone you love, like, or who buys something for you. If you can't afford to buy something, wander through the stores for atmosphere, and then go to library for a cookbook and make cookies. They make a nice gift. The same goes for decorating your digs; do what you can do and stop moping/bitching. Unless you were hatched from an egg, these activities are what takes you back to the magic. And the magic, the magic triggered by your childhood memories, is what makes it fun. String some lights, only a buck a string, and buy some eggnog. You will find that those childhood memories, once awakened, will give you an unbelievable buzz. It's a lot more fun than bitching about the stress. And if you're lamenting a lost love, considering suicide because the two of you decorated the tree together last year, then remember: you didn't even know the asshole when you were a child. Childhood is, after all, where the magic comes from.
