02/28/2004: "Know It All"
How is it that a pizza can get to your house faster than an ambulance? Why is the man who invests all your money called a broker? Why do hot dogs come in packages of ten and buns in packages of eight? Why is lemon juice made with artificial flavor and dish washing liquid made with real lemons? Why do you have to click the start key to shut down Windows? I don't know! I don't know! Click more.. below.
I don't know all the answers, but I do know that March is not a winter month. Winter, acording to the The American Heritage Dictionary, is "usually the coldest season of the year, occurring between autumn and spring, extending in the Northern Hemisphere from the winter solstice to the vernal equinox, and popularly considered to be constituted by December, January, and February." Hah, the vernal equinox is March 21, ergo, "in like a lion and out like a lamb." It's spring!
"No, it's not spring, not in Chicago, brother." But the vernal equinox? "Right," says local wisdom, "don't count on it." Well sorry, but I will count on it. Enough is enough; hope springs eternal, and oh, hey, I remember lots of times when, well maybe once or twice, when I wore a sweater or a spring jacket and flew a kite in March, in Chicago, when I was a kid. So, go blow it out your nose, we want spring, we need spring, bad, and we're gonna have it, ready or not, now!
Maybe it's not spring; depends on who you talk to, but it is Saturday, and Saturday is skin rotation day! The link is on the upper right of your screen. Don't miss it.
