Monday, June 30, 2003OK, We're Back
Sorry, AT&T, for all the really ugly things I was thinking about you.

Our broadband Internet service provider, loosely connected with AT&T, I think, will be going through its third "transition" in three years tomorrow morning. Monday. They flatly refuse to provide configuration information and claim that it will be posted on their website Monday, June 30th, after the "transition" has taken place. If anything goes wrong, of course, no one will be able to access their website for configuration information without a dial-up. Sigh. We have a few things up in the air right now that can't really afford down time. How will it go?

DocumentEvent JavaScript 1.5+, JScript 5.0+ Nav6+, IE5+ Syntax: DOM Event object. Description: The DocumentEvent object provides a mechanism by which the user can create an Event of a type supported by the implementation. It is expected that the DocumentEvent interface will be implemented on the same object which implements the Document interface in an implementation that supports the Event model. Contents of the EventException object are as follows:

The Shoulder Stand is not as dramatic a yoga posture as the Headstand but, in many ways it is just as effective. Comparable to the Headstand, the Shoulder Stand builds upper body strength, improves circulation and balance, and provides a great stretch for the upper back. And, the Shoulder Stand, since your weight is balanced on your shoulders and the back of your neck, has a downright spooky massaging effect on all those glands located at the front of your neck and under your chin. I recently designed a website with five sections. Each of the five sections had its own color scheme made up of five harmonizing colors and, since the user had reason to occasionally navigate quickly from one section to another, it was necessary that the section's color schemes be harmonious with one another. We needed to be prepared for the broadest possible audience in terms of hardware and software so we had to stay with the 216 color, browser safe, palette to avoid colors shifting.

University of Washington Chemistry mid-term. Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:

The headstand is one of the more dramatic yoga moves, especially when done on the end of a conference room table, but despite its appearance it isn't really all that athletically demanding. The headstand builds upper body strength, improves circulation and balance, and provides a great stretch for your upper back. Would you like to have a go?

Friends of ED is dead, and with it their FOUNDATION series on Macromedia Flash. This entry is about, and with thanks to, Brits Sham Bhangal and Ben Renow-Clarke and their book ActionScript for Macromedia Flash MX. Who is Sham; he writes in his dedication of an earlier work in the series "this is for Karen, without whom this book would have been written much faster", and Ben, just take in his keeki.com web site for a peek at who he is. This is a great technical book that can be read without ergonomically correct seating. A sample from chapter 6 of 13 follows:

Old people are like short people, except that there are many more of them, and we know we're all going to join their ranks. We love our parents but they have some eccentricities which, at least for now, we can see clearly. We also love Danny Devito but that doesn't slow us down when the song Short People gets some air time. Try these lyrics (click more..) to the tune of Short People.

I wanted to have today's date on the sidebar along with an image above the calendar that rotates monthly, in traditional calendar fashion. As you can see, I have the current date and the image above the calendar implemented and I'm going to share the necessary JavaScript.
